GWEN MORDONA

An ex-slave originally from Rialto (a kingdom far to the west of Untherlass), she was freed over a decade ago and received tuition in one of Untherlass' most prestigious adventuring schools - The Hammer's School of Hard Knocks. The school was closed down two years ago as it's founder and headmaster took his staff and students and pursued fortune on the field of the war that rages to the West of Untherlass. Gwen did not go with him as she did not wish to risk slavery again. And has since worked small security and bouncer jobs with Ponds. She is late twenty-something and favors a shield and spear fighting style and has not insignificant affection for Ponds.

TLDR - A sassy shield-maiden with strong opinions and the skills to back them up.

JAK MARR SAYS: "She's a better fighter, a better dancer and better looking than me. From the moment I met her I knew she would be my better half. But I am still the better cook."ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "When she yells shillelagh it hurts my ear…

JAK MARR SAYS: "She's a better fighter, a better dancer and better looking than me. From the moment I met her I knew she would be my better half. But I am still the better cook."

ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "When she yells shillelagh it hurts my ears in a good way."

JAMES MADDOX SAYS: "Definitely the balls of the party. Just ask Ponds."

JAK "PONDS" MARR

Jack "Ponds" Marr is without a doubt the moral compass of the team. Originally a city guard, his story starts off with him unemployed. After an investigation lead him to look internally at the motives other city guards, he found himself and his team on a dangerous road that would unfortunately lead to the slaughter of the latter. Being true to his character he stepped down from his position, unable to turn a blind eye to injustice of any kind. He later joined the Marshals as a way to continuously do what he sees as right, and as a means to leave the city with his new lady-love, Gwen.

TLDR - A no-nonsense former city guardsman who just wants to get things done ...with a crossbow.

GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "Honey… have you seen my shield? The one with the face on it? No, not that one, I need the one that goes with this outfit!"JAMES MADDOX SAYS: "Not the tank we wanted, but the one we got."ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "He seems to b…

GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "Honey… have you seen my shield? The one with the face on it? No, not that one, I need the one that goes with this outfit!"

JAMES MADDOX SAYS: "Not the tank we wanted, but the one we got."

ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "He seems to be relatively uptight fellow, but I suspect there is an interesting life behind what is probably the only guard in Untherlass that does not take a bribe. Alas, his only moral failing is his poor breeding."

JAMES MADDOX

James Maddox was once a great and powerful Wizard who used to practice under the title "The Wizard Wonderful - Defender of the Realm" that was until his home was raided in the night and all the magical ARTIFACTS that granted him his powers were taken from him. With his wife's throat cut and his powers drained he followed the trail to Untherlass hoping to both return himself to his former power and to seek vengeance on those who murdered his wife. James joined the Marshals as a way of granting himself more face to face meetings with the cities criminal underworld hoping to pick up any clues about his items. Unfortunately he has found himself severely under-powered and unable to RECOGNIZE how to deal with any problems ranked under his usual level of "world destroying" events. This causing him to handle most situations in less than ideal ways...

TLDR - A "great" and "powerful" wizard. Who is definitely not delusional.

JAK MARR SAYS: "Handy at neither fighting nor a dinner party, but good at cleaning up both."ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "An amiable gluten intolerant avalanche of inconvenience."GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "I have great respect for James; I’ve found wizards…

JAK MARR SAYS: "Handy at neither fighting nor a dinner party, but good at cleaning up both."

ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "An amiable gluten intolerant avalanche of inconvenience."

GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "I have great respect for James; I’ve found wizards to be men and women of the best character, and they can do cool stuff with wands and their own glorious will. I wish for my first born to be a Wizard, just like James. [UPDATE] James cannot be trusted with… well, anything really. Wizards are dicks."

ZOOK "DASHBOLD" FOLKOR

Zook "Dashbold" Folkor is a young forest gnome of noble blood with a golden rat with a love for music, carousing and making friends. From an early age this Bard accompanied his Father & Mother on many trade ventures in and outside Untherlass meeting people, playing music, and helping them build the name of their main product... Folknostor brandy. A Whisky so uplifting, so transcendent, so mysterious, that is worth more money per cask than the average person would ever earn. It is said to give the drinker a unique experience upon every sip!!! But his efforts to extol his families vintage has evidently attracted some... unwanted attention. For someone has stolen the recipe, his families well guarded secret is a secret no more. So armed with his Golden Rat, charm, fun loving attitude and dashing smile, he joined the Marshall's, for some reason certain that this would lead him to the mystery of his families stolen recipe.

TLDR - A naive and spoiled Gnome kid who just wants to be famous...

JAK MARR SAYS: "Handy to have at a dinner party, not so much a fight."GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "When I first met The Dashbold, he almost got us all killed. Not much has changed. He gave me a frog once. And he wrote me a song, but it never made it into the…

GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "When I first met The Dashbold, he almost got us all killed. Not much has changed. He gave me a frog once. And he wrote me a song, but it never made it into the Top 100 Untherlass Charts."

JAMES MADDOX SAYS: "The only other person in this group that actually makes any sense."

Yurimetrius OF SAPRA

Yurimetrius has been dispatched from his paladin chapter of Tyr in the city of Sapra on a holy quest for a legendary relic, the Heart of Tyr, to end a plague devastating his homeland. After travelling for many years, across many lands searching for clues about it's location, his journey has finally led him to the gates of Untherlass. Unfortunately for Yurimetrius however, he quickly learned how easy it was to fall prey to the drama and intrigue within the city of Untherlass.

TLDR - A desert-wandering paladin on a mission from God.

JAMES MADDOX SAYS: "Watch this guy, he has a bright future ahead of him."GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "Yuri came to us from the sky. Just like all those horses. Weird guy. Nice hair."JAK MARR SAYS: "Yuri would make a terrible soldier, but he is one of the bes…

GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "Yuri came to us from the sky. Just like all those horses. Weird guy. Nice hair."

JAK MARR SAYS: "Yuri would make a terrible soldier, but he is one of the best warriors I've had the privilege to fight alongside."

ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "We saved each other in the dungeons of Plyar Karktar. One of my best buddies."

| BEWARE! THERE BE spoilers ahead |

Ariel Cordwyn (Human)

Ariel Cordwyn is the Grand Docent of the Great Library of Untherlass, located next to The Wizarding University.  On top of being the head of this famous and prestigious library she is the foremost authority on astronomy in the city (and perhaps even the world). An extremely efficient and organised person she is often seen striding through the city followed by a contingent of aides and assistants. Ariel most recently met with the Marshals when she was looking to track down a man named Ellison Jebedo - a mission for which she has now hired the Marshals to complete.

ATLAS (Warforged)

Standing over 7 feet high, is the Sorcerer Atlas. a recently awakened Warforged (or Fantasy Robot). Being imbued with magic and an emotionless, cold exterior, he seeks to find his creator in order to get a better understanding of who he is, and why he was made...

TLDR - An ignorant Warforged butcher who has very little patience for "meatbags".

UPDATE 1: After glitching-out - which resulted in the death of several circus-workers - Atlas went on the lam and entered the realm of NPC's. He is suspected to be behind the monster attacks on the circus, and has been reported as dead by the Wizard Cops.

JAK MARR SAYS: "Handy to have in a fight, not so much a dinner party."JAMES MADDOX SAYS: "The origin of the phrase "Some things are definitely worth leaving buried." "ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "An astonishingly precocious newborn Warforged with a…

JAK MARR SAYS: "Handy to have in a fight, not so much a dinner party."

JAMES MADDOX SAYS: "The origin of the phrase "Some things are definitely worth leaving buried." "

ZOOK 'DASHBOLD' FOLKOR SAYS: "An astonishingly precocious newborn Warforged with a world view that is about what one would expect from a Warforged butcher. Has tried to remove my skin on many an occasion."

GWEN MORDONA SAYS: "I barely knew him. For the best, I think."

BETTY BASINGTHWAITE III (HALFLING)

Betty is an eccentric carriage driver that has managed to finagle a position as the Marshals' personal carriage driver in the employ of the Marshal service. She is an elderly Halfling dressed in many garish, colorful items of clothing and her graying red hair is usually tied in braided pigtails.

Bimpnottir folkor (gnome)

Bimpnottir is an older sister to Zook (Dashbold) Folkor. A tinker and artificer by trade, her boyfriend, Renner, is a mech-pilot in the army of the Gnomish Kingdom of Elidimwyd. Her last obsession, in a series of obsessions, has been exploring the inner workings of damaged Modron she managed to acquire from the city workforces. When the Marshals were investigating reports of Bimpnottir's disappearance they discovered the dead bodies of both Bimpnottir and her boyfriend concealed in a battle-mech store room and that both she and he had been replaced by dopplegangers. After a very fiery encounter, both dopplegangers were slain, with the Marshals coming away with major burn scars. Bimpnottir's Modron is being kept in James' Shiprest house.

CARAMIP folkor (gnome)

Caramip is the younger sister of Zook (Dashbold) Folkor. She is a scholar by trade and a bit of a bookworm by nature. Short even for a Gnome, she has brown hair and eyes. She was saved by the Marshals along with the REAL Dashbold from the demiplanes orbiting above the circus. She seems emotionally damaged by her time there and is currently residing in James' Shiprest house, protected by the blacksmith Dreeza who is also staying there.

CHalfo (HUman)

Chalfo is the owner and proprietor of The Great Circus in Teevine Corner and is relatively new to Untherlass. A rather rude and peevish man, he regards himself as a social climber and dismisses those who reside on a lower social level as irrelevant. He had a great fondness for Dashbold (UPDATE: or rather Dashbold's doppleganger) and an immense dislike for James whom he saw as rude and Ponds whom he considered uncultured.

UPDATE 1: When last we saw Chalfo was when he was slain in the demiplanes above the circus, revealing him to be a doppleganger. Our Marshals have not discerned for how long he had been replaced.

CHESTER MCCREEN (HumAN)

Chester McCreen is the current Professor in Residence specialising on matters of the Feywild at the Wizarding University. He is an older gentleman and particularly grumpy; known for being a recluse and is rarely seen around the campus. He assumed this position within the University after his long-time rival Hubert Dendren went missing a number of years ago, leaving the position open.

Calloway (HumAN)

Calloway was the resident lion-tamer of The Great Circus in Teevine Corner. A very tall, dark and very serious man, our Marshalls won his gratitude for sparing some of the animals that either went mad or were ensorcelled during their first, fateful night at the circus. They went on to befriend the gruff man and his wife, Carlotta, before his demise in the battle within the demiplanes above the circus tent. After his funeral Carlotta bequeathed his magical Bag of Tricks to Gwen as token of goodwill.

CaRlotta (HumAN)

Carlotta is a fortune-teller and seer that travels with The Great Circus in Teevine Corner. Wife to the lion-tamer Calloway, this short dark-skinned woman loves to cook and is a mother to those around her. Her 'brothers' serve as workmen for the circus (and were revealed to be jakalweres). She gave our Marshals several insights when they engaged her skills as a fortune teller and was later taken hostage to turn her husband against our Marshals. After her husband's death she gifted his Bag of Tricks to Gwen as a show of good faith, along with a basket of baked goods.

CORNELL OATHUSK (HumAN)

Cornell Oathusk is a member of the Order of the Silver Sword - the sworn protectors of the Kingdom of Wilnistria - and travels with his teenage Squire, Tim. Cornell is the emissary sent to Untherlass to apprehend Dashbold and his accomplices who are accused of impersonating a member of royalty (Lord Ebenezer Wilkes is the name Dashbold used when dealing with Digby in Greyacre). After issuing the Marshals a formal warning and notice of his intent to arrest them and take them to face trial in Wilnistria, he was sent away with two doppelgangers, whom Dashbold, Gwen and James had convinced to impersonate and stand trial for them.

DEFFEL (HUMAN)

Deffel is an orphan of Greyacre who has found his way into Windee's care in Pit End. He lives there with the other orphans and is a protege to Macguire.

DIGBY (Dwarf) and BOOTCHIE (Goliath)

Digby is a moneylender in Greyacre and Bootchie is his bodyguard. The Marshals had one memorable encounter with Digby and before they resorted to violence he disappeared with his paperwork - earning their ever-lasting ire. Digby is a diminutive dwarf that pays little attention to appearance or hygiene, Bootchie is a tall and fat Goliath covered in tattoos who only wears a loincloth.

UPDATE 1: The Marshals suspect that Digby is behind the bounty that has recently been placed on their collective heads, but this has yet to be confirmed.

DREEZA TOLLAND (HUMAN)

Dreeza is a blacksmith in Greyacre. He used to be possessed of two magical forges powered by captured elementals. However during a conflagration with the Marshals the elementals were sent back to their home plane, destroying Dreeza's Smithy in the process.

UPDATE 1: Dreeza appeared on James' doorstep on a mission from Digby to keep James under surveillance. James convinced Dreeza to let james Buy out his debt to Digby and let him stay in James' stone house in borough of Shiprest to find what safety he can there.

EZZNET (AWAKENED GELATINOUS CUBE)

Ezznet is a large gelatinous cube that resides in the Feywild library attached to Chester McCreen's offices. Ezznet is usually a friendly creature and spends his time reading by consuming and papers and tomes that can be spared.

FISH (HUMAN)

Fish is the childhood friend of Ponds and the current owner/proprietor of Fish's Bar and Grill in Shiprest, Untherlass. Married to Mary.

FRODSHAM & BIMBLE (HUMAN)

Frodsham and Bimble are a pair of clowns that perform with The Great Circus. Our Marshals fought this pair briefly, when assaulting the main tent of the circus. James is afraid of clowns and despises Frodsham and Bimble more than most other NPC's he despises.

GORLIK (MINOTAUR)

General Gorlik is the commander of the Untherlass Army and, as a part of that command, The Untherlass Marshal service. The Army is a relatively new force in Untherlass - born out of the conflict in the surrounding political sphere. Gorlik has proven himself to be an eminently practical and prescient leader who always puts the needs of the city's people ahead of the needs of the city leadership.

Gretta Treebay (Halfling)

Gretta is the Warden with the Untherlass City Army that is directly responsible for our group of Marshals. She works out of the Cairshire Marshal Headquarters. Gretta is late forties, with graying black hair always tied up in a severe bun on the back of her head. Always dressed very properly in immaculate clothing that is almost-martial in style and easy to move in.

UPDATE 1: Gretta fought alongside our Marshals in the battle above the circus, and (for what they thought was a little old lady) impressed them with her martial abilities.

UPDATE 2: Gretta recently gave in to Dashbold's romantic advances and now the two share a special connection.

Lady Of THe North Wind (Greater Fey)

The Lady of the North Wind is a greater Fey who seems to have an interest in sponsoring Warlocks on the Material Plane. Our Marshalls first made contact with her in the mines of Pitend, and since she has granted powers to both Dashbold and Yurimetrius. She also granted Atlas a weapon - a crystal scythe - in exchange for him attempting to find an old soldier named Ellison.

MACGUIRE (HUMAN) & KISM (CHAIN WORM)

Macguire is the main protection of The Wind Speaks gang in Pit End. He has a silvery metallic chain worm companion named Kism who was a gift from the gangs' Greater Fey Patron - the Lady of the North Wind. They dwell in the old mine system under Pit End.

MOLO (ORC)

Molo is friend and confidant to James Maddox. He resides in the Untherlass University of Magic and Wizardry where he is both a student and teachers aide. Molo owes James a life-debt for a favor performed in the past.

NEYMAR NIKHIL (TIEFLING)

Neymar is the owner/proprietor of the Fire Pit - the only sizeable tavern and brothel in Pitend. He is 8 feet tall, muscular and crimson in color.

NIGEL GNIBBROM & TOM Fadwith (GNOMES)

These are Dashbold's closest friends outside of his family. Each belongs to a Trader family that have close financial ties to the Folkor family and grew up with the same tutors and going to the same parties as Dashbold.

UPDATE 1: Tom and Nigel are now business partners who have made their fortune by implicating themselves in and profiteering from the sale of Folkor family's estate. After their mistreatment as the hands of the our Marshall's they have cut ties to Dashbold, both business ties and those of friendship.

Octavian & Clifford (HUMANS)

Octavian and Clifford are both agents of the Wizard Police. Notable only because they are part of the minority of Wizard Police who are not Tieflings AND the fact that James Maddox does not find them objectionable despite his famous dislike for members of the organisation.

UPDATE 1: Clifford was killed while fighting the forces of evil alongside the Marshalls above The Great Circus in Teevine Corner. He was unable to be resurrected at the temples of Beshaba and Tyr.

PLYAR KARKTAR (HUMAN)

Plyar Karktar is a very prominent Trader and Head Functionary of the Untherlass Fiduciary (the main bank within the city). It was during Ponds' investigation of corruption with the city guard involving Plyar Karktar that Ponds' lost his position, his reputation and the lives of several loved ones.

UPDATE 1: While investigating the stolen items at The Great Circus in Teevine Corner, they were warned by General Gorlic that there were financial ties between Trader Karctar and the circus' proprietor Chalfo. When fighting the forces in the demiplanes orbiting above the circus they encountered a person they thought was Plyar Karktar harvesting arcanum from destroyed magical items and swiftly ended his life. Though, since then, many sources (including the Marshals themselves) have seen Plyar alive and well.

RENN & MAzik FOlkor (Gnomes)

Renn and Mazik are Dashbold's parents and founders of the Folknoster Brandy Company - whose very popular, luxury brandy is famous for the traces of magic infused in every sip which gives the drinker a unique and pleasant taste experience. However it was for the secret of infusing magic into their brandy that led to them being abducted and held prisoner in the demiplanes that orbit above The Great Circus in Teevine Corner. They were tortured (along with Dashbold) for the magical formula and for the key to reverse the process and harvest the magical arcanum inside. Dashbold gave away formula to save his parents, but to no avail, as they were then slain in front of him.

When the Marshals were investigating Dashbold's missing sister Bimpnottir, they found two dopplegangers impersonating Renn and Mazik who explained that they had sold all of the Folkor fortune away in order to purchase titles in the Gnomish Kingdom of Ellydymwyd. The Marshals slew the two dopplegangers.

ROCKJAW (AWAKENED BULETTE)

Rockjaw is a very young and opinionated, awakened Bulette that the Marshals formed an uneasy alliance with in the tunnels beneath the Casino in Cairshire. He stands about 3 feet tall, with skin that looks like granite. When we last saw Rockjaw he was on his way to join the Green Core (a Druidic organisation centered around the protections of animals and Animals within Untherlass).

Selena (ELF)

Selena is an assistant/apprentice/attendant to the performing wizard Valente Marcel and a Wizard in her own right. Selena is very composed and proper woman who knows how to hold a grudge. She has a particular distaste for James for his various and numerable transgressions against her.

SCHAEFFER GNIBBROM (GNOME)

Schaeffer is the Folkor family's lawyer and has been a loyal family friend for years. He is father to Dashbold's friend Nigel. He was witness when Dashbold slew the dopplegangers that were impersonating his parents, and has promised to try to put the Folkor estate back together.

VALENTE MARCEL (HUMAN)

Valente Marcel is an short, elderly gentleman Wizard, who is well past his prime but still performs in The Great Circus in Teevine Corner. He relies heavily on the assistance of fellow wizard Selena, who rather dotes on him. His magical power was tapped and enslaved to create the network of demiplanes that orbit above the circus, meaning that he was mentally and physically drained during this time.

WINDEE (HUMAN)

Windee is the leader of The Wind Speaks gang in Pit End. She is the main connection to their patron the Lady of the North Wind. She is responsible for the care and protection of a couple of dozen of the orphans of Pit End as well as maintaining the domain of the "Fool" - a man who formed this gang - a circular chamber that contains a link to the Feywild through a tree that bears six different varieties of fruit. Her parents are scrap metal merchants in Greyacre.

WINSTON DelaForge (Mechanical Owl, formerly dwarf)

Currently, Winston is a small mechanical clockwork owl, constructed of many different metals and gem-stone parts. He needs to be wound every couple of days or he will be unable to move or talk. But he was not always this way. Winston was once an Artificer of exceptional ability. As he was reaching his final years though he made the decision to explore his options to prolong his life and, as is so often the case, decided that he would be the one lich that was not evil. However, his ritual was incomplete and after the smoke cleared it was obvious that he had failed as his consciousness was now trapped inside the mechanical contraption he had meant for his phylactery. He was passed around and stored away for many years before James' stumbled upon him and they struck their deal - Winston would tutor James and James would keep him supplied with alcohol and books (as well as keeping him tightly wound). Winston now resides in James' Shiprest house.
